Okay, this recipe is not only SUPER easy but it's also so fun, especially if you are cooking for your family or a group of friends. I also love it because it's so easy to customize, depending on your cheese and toppings preferences, you can totally make this your own! I listed all of the ingredients for one pizza, so if you are doing multiple pies, add quantities accordingly.
Ingredients:
1 package of your favorite pizza dough (I like the fresh dough from Trader Joe's best)
1 can of tomato sauce (I prefer making my own when I can but any
1 oz. fresh mozzarella
6 - 8 fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon of chopped fresh basil
Salt and pepper (to taste)
1/4 cup of olive oil
1 cup of flour
Instructions:
20 minutes prior to cooking, take your dough out so it can start getting to room temperature.
Preheat your oven to to 425 degrees.
Next, pour some flour on to your prep station. You can use a clean large cutting board, parchment / wax paper, or even your clean countertops.
Place you dough in the flour and start kneading, once dough is soft and easily molded, roll into a ball and start spreading out with a rolling pin.
Once your dough is in an approximate 14" circle, you are ready to start decorating your pizza!
Add approximately 2.5 tablespoons of your pizza sauce and distribute evenly, leaving 1-2 inches at the edges, depending on your crust preference.
Next add thin slices of the fresh mozzarella evenly over your pizza sauce, then add the basil, salt, and pepper.
Now, if you are going to add any toppings, like pepperoni or veggies, it's time.
Lastly, brush your crusts with olive oil, add a little grated parmesan cheese if you want, and cook for 8 minutes - 10 minutes. If you like your crush and cheese with extra bubbles you can broil for the last 2 minutes - but keep an eye on it! It always varies on how thin your cheese slices are.
